Queen Elizabeth II was Britain’s ruler for 70 years. The longest reigning monarch surpassed Queen Victoria by seven years. Queen Victoria was Elizabeth’s great-great-grandmother. Her Majesty ascended the throne in 1952, after the demise of her father, King George VI. Following, Her Majesty’s death on September 08, 2022, her son, Charles, took over immediately as King. Charles’ sister, Princess Royal, Anne, is the only name that was not talked about much for the next-in-line to the throne.
According to the Succession Crown Act of 2013, the eldest child or person next in line to the throne will become a monarch, regardless of the gender of any siblings. This act is only applicable to those born after 2011. This Act also ends the rule that if an heir marries a Roman Catholic, they would be disqualified from the line of succession. Since Charles’ sister was born way before 2011, her name was not even taken into account for the next-in-line to the throne. Scroll on to know more about Princess Royal, Anne.

This was an old law that favored male sons over their sisters.
