Boyinaband aka David has been independently active on YouTube since 2014. However, the presence has been on and off. He rose to fame in 2015, but the same year, the artist started battling mental health issues and went off. David came back again in 2018 but again went off the grid in 2019. David Paul Brown, who goes by the YouTube username ‘Boyinaband’ was born in Telford, England on August 24, 1987. David moved to the UAE in the early parts of his childhood but eventually moved back to England. In England, he joined a band named ‘With You and What Army’ in 2007. He started recording music with them. David continued with the band till 2014. He broke up with the band and started his independent YouTube channel.

David then became Boyinaband. He recorded a song titled ‘Don’t Stay In School’ in 2015. The song engulfed the criticism of subjects and topics taught in the school. The song garnered 46 million views on YouTube. It also received criticism for disseminating the message of dropping out of school. Nevertheless, he clarified that the song is an institutional critique, and the words “Don’t Stay In School” refer to the subjects that should not stay in school.

Why Did The YouTuber Leave The Platform?

Boyinaband received traction within the YouTube community. He collaborated with the likes of Andrew Huang, Corpse Husband, and iDubbbz. However, in 2015, he became less and less active on YouTube due to his mental health issues. In 2016, he released another song titled “I’m not dead,” which dealt with the issues he was facing at that time. The video song got 6 million views. Since then, in 2017, he started uploading regularly. In April 2018, he released another video song “My new look,” where he flaunted his transformations including a half red and black goatee.

In May 2018, he posted another video talking about his battle with depression. After that, he collaborated with PewDiePie for a T-series diss track ‘congratulations’. The artist did not upload any content post that video. In August 2022, his ex-partners came out accusing him of pedophilia, grooming, and emotional, mental, and physical abuse. There was a subreddit that informed the world that he was a substance abuser. As of now, he has not responded to any of the accusations.
