Born on October 1, 1938, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Stella Stevens was the only child of her parents. Her father was an insurance salesman, and her mother was a nurse. At the age of 16, she married electrician Noble Herman Stephens with whom she had a son named Andrew Stevens.
In 1957, the couple divorced when Stella was studying at Memphis State University. Two years later, she made her film debut with the musical comedy ‘Say One for Me.’
The Golden Globe winner has also appeared in films like ‘Girls! Girls! Girls!’, ‘The Nutty Professor’, and ‘The Courtship of Eddie’s Father’ among others. She was also a Playboy model and was the Playmate of the month in January 1960.

On Friday, February 17, 2023, Stella passed away at the age of 84 in Los Angeles. Her son Andrew Steven said, “She had been in hospice for quite some time with Stage 7 Alzheimer’s.”
In 2004, Steven talked about working with Elvis Presley in ‘Girls! Girls! Girls!’, stating that the experience was not good. “So I read the script. I wound up throwing it across the room!” she said, calling it “a piece of shit.”
She told Paramount studios that she won’t do the film. The studio in return threatened her that she will “be put on suspension, and you will not be able to work here or anywhere else — you will not be able to make any money.’“
