    Why Chris Hemsworth Almost Quit Acting After 2009’s ‘Star Trek’?

    Chris Hemsworth is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood. The 39-year-old actor has been in the industry for a long time and has established himself as a seasoned actor. He has worked on many hits like MCU ‘Avengers‘ and ‘Thor‘ franchise, ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Men in Black International’, and Netflix’s ‘Extraction’. For his role in ‘Snowhite and the Huntsman‘ and as Thor, Odin’s son the actor has won numerous People’s Choice Awards. However, there was once a time when the actor thought about giving up on acting.

    The Australian actor like many aspirants had recently started his career with the television series ‘Guinevere Jones’. In the fantasy series, Chris appeared in two episodes as King Arthur. He made further appearances in soap operas like ‘Neighbours’, ‘Marshall Law’, ‘The Saddle Club’, and ‘Robbie Hunter‘. The Thor star even tried his luck in the Australian reality show, ‘Dancing With The Stars‘ along with professional Abbey Ross but the pair was eliminated soon. Therefore it was a momentous occasion when Hemsworth was offered a part in the 2009 ‘Star Trek.’

    What Made Chris Want To Quit Acting?

    Chris landed his first break with ‘Star Trek‘ film as Lieutenant Commander George Kirk. Despite the sci-fi film’s success, Chris pondered to quit acting for a while. Before the actor landed his gig for Thor with Marvel, he experienced a dry period in the industry. Chris was faced with silence from auditions and didn’t get callbacks for 8 months after Star Trek. Though Chris since young wanted to be an actor, and this dark period got him revaluating his future in the industry.

    Chris shared with Men’s Health once, “I was about to quit. I always wanted to act, and one of the first things I wanted to do when I got any money was pay my parents’ house off,” The Australian actor continued, “Then my mentality changed, which came from being at a point where I was like, ‘I’m going to go back to Australia,”

    However, Chris’ childhood dream to pay for his father’s house determined him to stay just a little longer. “In those eight months, I got more and more anxious, to the point where I couldn’t harness that energy,” the Marvel star shared. “I was trying to convince myself I wasn’t nervous before auditions rather than grabbing hold of it and going, ‘Use it, raise up your awareness here, sharpen your focus.” A decision that will change his life. “I had one more audition where I was like, ‘Do this for his house. Think about reasons other than yourself.’

    After that, he backed the role of Curt Vaughan in ‘The Cabin In The Woods‘. Later after this film, he signed up with Marvel for the famous role of the God of thunder and lightning.

    Hemsworth’s Parents Were His Role Models

    Chris was the second son of three, Luke the eldest and Liam the youngest, both are actors too. Chris’ father worked in child protection and has claimed numerous times to be close to his family. Hemsworth had always pictured a family just like his father’s. “As kids, we were always hugely athletic, so we were always outdoors doing things, taking a football out and riding motorbikes and surfing together and playing water polo,” Chris told. “Something I’m very aware of is wanting to have kids young and just being able to be athletic and being able to keep up with them.”

    Today he is a father of three, India Rode and twins Sasha and Tristin. He is married to the Spanish actor Elsa Pataky since 2010. The actor frequently shares endearing pictures of himself with his family. India Rose recently made her first film appearance in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder‘ with her father as Gorr’s daughter. The actor’s new project, ‘Limitless‘ was released on 16 November. The documentary focuses on combating aging and rebooting the human body and can be streamed on Disney+.
