Chris Tucker started out as a stand-up comedian and made his debut as a performer on the comedy series ‘Def Comedy Jam.’ He then shifted to acting and appeared in several successful films like ‘Friday’, ‘Jackie Brown‘ and the action comedy series ‘Rush Hour.’
In the 2010s, Tucker started appearing in fewer projects. After his appearance in the 2012’s ‘Silver Linings Playbook,‘ Tucker decided to take a break from acting. In a recent interview, the 51-year-old actor revealed the reason behind the hiatus he took from acting and showbiz. So let’s find out what he said.

Chris Tucker Opens Up About Taking A Break From Acting
Chris Tucker disappeared from the movie business for a while. His fans and well-wishers wondered what happened to him and asked to see him again on the silver screen.
In an interview with My Classix ATL, Tucker said that he felt like he had reached a certain height in his career; but he wanted more. “The way I kind of stepped back from Hollywood, at one point being the highest paid actor in Hollywood, I felt like you know it was a ceiling right there. I wanted more — it wasn’t enough”, he said.
The ‘Friday‘ actor then took a break, traveled the world, and got involved in various humanitarian efforts “that really broadened my perspective of the world.”
Tucker said he did not just want to be the highest-paid or most successful actor but wanted to give back to society. “It’s about becoming somebody to give to the world — to inspire in some kind of way, hopefully. So, I like that I did that,” he said.

Tucker Has Made A Comeback With ‘Air’
‘Air‘ is a biographical sports drama that chronicles the origin of Michael Jordan and Nike’s Air Jordan line of shoes. Directed by Ben Affleck, the film stars Affleck, Matt Damon, and Tucker in pivotal roles.
Tucker plays the role of Howard White, a Nike executive who was important in securing Jordan’s deal with the sports company. This is Tucker’s first film in seven long years. His performance and the film have been well received.
Tucker now plans to put all his learning into his films. “I want to put the wisdom I experienced in the world, in movies and stuff like I saw that inspired me as a kid like, ‘Casablanca,’ ‘The Color Purple,’ and ‘Coming to America’, he said. “I definitely want to do a movie.”
