Life’s all about opportunities, big and small. While appearing on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show,’ the host welcomed Ben Affleck by playing his first Burger King commercial. Affleck, who was 17 at the time of the commercial, recalled unpleasant stories from the set of his acting gig. Like all of us, the Oscar-winning actor-filmmaker is also guilty of lying on his résumé.
The commercial involved a young Affleck being able to drive. He misled the team behind the commercial about how he was a professional driver and had it all under control. Fortunately, there were no accidents on the set. Watching his success over the years, we’d say it was worth it!
Ben Affleck Opens Up About Lying At His First Acting Job
In one of his earliest acting gigs, Ben Affleck plays a leather jacket-wearing teenager who delivers a Burger King take-out to a girl. After dropping it off at a girl’s doorstep, he watches her take it indoors. While the commercial reads ‘Sometimes You Gotta Break The Rules,’ he receives a summons from his dad to return home.
The 50-year-old actor and filmmaker jokingly told the audience about the shoot being an unpleasant experience. As a part of the Burger King commercial, he had to drive. He told the host, “They’re always worried about actors driving.” Believing it would give him a leg up, he lied about his proficiency as a driver. He told the director that he had “driven like 500 or 1,000 miles.” The director made him do multiple takes, which he now laughs about.
