Jameela Jamil is putting her foot down when it comes down to filming intimate scenes. ‘The Good Place’ actress appeared on Pen Badgley’s Podcrushed podcast that she pulled out of her audition for the acclaimed Netflix series ‘You.’ She spoke to the hosts Penn Badgley, Nava Kavelin, and Sophie Ansari about her feelings about filming intimate scenes on camera.
Jamil auditioned for a part in the latest season but didn’t go through with it due to the nature of her character didn’t feel true to herself. Previously, Penn Badgley made the headlines about his abstinence from filming intimate scenes out of his respect for his marriage to his wife, Domino Kirke.

Jameela Jamil Didn’t Feel Comfortable With Her ‘You’ Character
Jameela Jamil told she was initially supposed to audition for the latest season of ‘You.’ But as soon she learned her “character was supposed to be quite sexy,” she decided to back out. She talked about being “shy about anything sexy that I can’t,” revealing her awkwardness around such scenes.
Jameela Jamil got into a deep conversation about intimate scenes and shared her feelings, “I don’t think I’ve ever been someone who would have enjoyed objectifying myself, personally. But that’s also because I have so much deep, like, childhood, sexual trauma stuff. So I think that was never in the cards for me.”

Penn Badgley’s Refusal To Film Intimate Scenes For The Netflix Series
Ahead of the ‘You’ final season, Penn Badgley talked with showrunner Sera Gamble about not having too many lovemaking scenes on the show. Badgley told Variety, “My fidelity in my relationship. It’s important to me. And actually, [sex scenes] was one of the reasons that I initially wanted to turn the role down [in ‘You’].”
Penn Badgley’s comments about not wanting to film intimate scenes were brutally dissected. Most people argued that these scenes are much safer to film with intimacy coordinators. In an interview with GQ, the actor responded to the backlash, saying his comments were “blown out of proportion.”
