What Is Jessica Chastain’s Book Signing Controversy?
On Wednesday, Jessica Chastain took to Twitter to clear some air surrounding a video of her not signing a fan book. The video was taken after a Broadway performance of her play titled ‘A Doll’s House.’
In it, a fan approaches her with the book written by Taylor Jenkins Reid. According to People magazine, in response, the ‘Interstellar‘ actress politely tells her fan: “I can’t sign that, just because I’m not doing it.”
She then poses a selfie with the fan. The video has since gone viral on Tiktok with several users commenting on it regarding Chastain’s behavior. Some of them are asking why couldn’t she just sign the book and move on.

Chastain Clarifies The Issue
“I’ve been asked multiple times by fans, to sign books that I’m not attached to contractually,” she wrote on Twitter. “Because it feels wrong, and like I’m taking credit for someone else’s work, I’ll say I can’t sign because I’m not doing it. That doesn’t mean I’ve read a bad script.”

In the next tweet, she wrote: “I know how excited many you are about adaptations. Please dont read too much into a video. There is no news about anything. Except that I’m onstage until June 10th. Hope to see you #ADollsHouse“.
A film adaptation of ‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ is currently under development for Netflix. Chastain has expressed her interest in doing a film based on the best-selling novel.
