Earlier this week, Smith broke his silence about the infamous incident. The actor shared that he apologized to both Rock and the SNL alum’s mother. He even explained why he didn’t apologize to Rock during his Best Actor acceptance speech. Now Smith’s daughter, Willow Smith, has responded to what went down between her father and Rock.
Willow, who’s a famous pop star publicly defended the shocking moment, which would go down in the history of Hollywood. She presents an excuse of “seeing her whole family as only human.”

Willow Smith Says She Accepts Family For All Their “Humanness” After Father’s Oscar Slap Incident
Will Smith hit Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith being bald (which is a result of the actress having alopecia) during his presentation for Best Documentary Feature. Coincidentally, just days after her dad’s public apology, Willow Smith talked about the incident. The singer informed Billboard that this incident didn’t affect her creativity or “rock me as much as my own internal demons.”
She explained, “I see my whole family as being human, and I love and accept them for all their humanness.” Willow went on to add, “Because of the position that we’re in, our humanness sometimes isn’t accepted, and we’re expected to act in a way that isn’t conducive to a healthy human life and isn’t conducive to being honest.”
Chris Rock Is Not Ready To Hear Will Smith’s Apology
Willow Smith’s statement comes after her father came out with an official apology. The actor apologized to Chris and his family in a 5-minute-long YouTube video. In the clip, Smith not only apologized to the comedian but also addressed the discomfort he caused to the nominees and other attendees on the show.
The ‘King Richard’ star also apologized to his fans who were disappointed by his actions. He promised to better his wrongs. He said, “Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.” Smith further revealed that Chris had refused to get in touch with the actor. The comedian is hoping to take his time processing the incident.
