Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster appeared to be moving steadily toward marriage after making their relationship public. However, a new report claims the couple has hit an unexpected roadblock.
According to an insider, Foster has decided to pause their wedding plans because of concerns about Jackman’s behavior, even as the pair reportedly works on their relationship behind the scenes.
Why Hugh Jackman And Sutton Foster’s Wedding Is On Hold
According to Radar Online, Hugh Jackman’s girlfriend, Sutton Foster, is not ready to marry the ‘Wolverine‘ star just yet. A source claimed that Foster has grown concerned about certain aspects of the actor’s personality despite caring deeply for him.

The insider said, “Sutton loves Hugh dearly, but he can be very self-centered and needy. She’s very sympathetic. But she didn’t sign up to be Hugh’s emotional caretaker. And she wants a partner, not someone she needs to coddle.”
The same source also claimed that the couple has started therapy to work through ongoing issues. They wanted another chance before taking the next step in their relationship. According to the insider, “Until Hugh finds more solid footing, Sutton feels like they need to put all the marriage talk on the back burner.”
Earlier Reports Suggested The Couple Was Planning A Wedding
Wedding rumors had been gaining momentum earlier this year. It was previously reported that Jackman and Foster got engaged during a holiday in Costa Rica in early 2026. And it seemed like she had already begun planning their wedding.

Other sources also reported that the couple has been working on a $200 million prenup before tying the knot. Interestingly, the report claimed Jackman never had a prenup with his ex-wife and initially rejected the idea of signing one with Foster as well. However, his team reportedly encouraged him to move forward with the agreement.
A source said, “This is a $200m prenup, including a $50m ‘no hard feelings’ exit package, and it’s mostly designed around protecting all three kids. It’s not comfortable discussions, but neither of them is willing to walk away — and Hugh genuinely believes the Sutton trolls will calm down once they’re married.”
Jackman and Foster had known each other for years before their romance became public last fall. Their relationship came after both stars ended their previous marriages. Foster also moved on after her marriage ended. She officially filed for divorce from her husband, Ted Griffin, in May 2025. While recent reports suggest the couple is facing challenges, neither Jackman nor Foster has publicly commented on the latest claims.
