“I Sure Hope The Movie Is Worth It”: ‘Yellowstone’ Creator Taylor Sheridan On Kevin Costner’s Upcoming Film
Paramount announced last May that season five of ‘Yellowstone‘ would be the last one after reports emerged that the network is wrapping up the series because of Costner’s demand to limit his filming commitments.
While creator Taylor Sheridan said he was disappointment over Costner’s early departure, he also clarified that he respects the actor’s decision and that his “opinion of Kevin as an actor hasn’t altered.”
“I’ve never had an issue with Kevin that he and I couldn’t work out on the phone,” Sheridan said. “But once lawyers get involved, then people don’t get to talk to each other and start saying things that aren’t true and attempt to shift blame based on how the press or public seem to be reacting,” he said.
“He took a lot of this on the chin and I don’t know that anyone deserves it. His movie seems to be a great priority to him and he wants to shift focus. I sure hope [the movie is] worth it — and that it’s a good one,” he added.
Meanwhile, when Costner opened up about the issue much after his decision to exit, he cited some creative differences as the reason for his exit. His willingness to rejoin the show has not entirely evaporated. However, as of now, fans can only wait as the fate of the show hangs in the air and anything can unfold amid the drama.
