“You Wouldn’t Even Have To Pay Me”: Alan Ritchson Campaigns Hard To Play Batman

Alan Ritchson, best known for his role as Jack Reacher in Amazon Prime’s ‘Reacher’, has once again expressed his desire to play Batman. This time the actor doubled down on his eagerness once again. In fact, he’s so eager to don the cape and cowl that he claims he wouldn’t even need a paycheck. 

Fans have long been championing Ritchson as the perfect choice for the Dark Knight, thanks to his impressive physicality and commanding screen presence. While James Gunn has denied any current involvement of Ritchson in the new DC Universe, the actor remains hopeful.

For years, Alan Ritchson has made it abundantly clear: if given the opportunity, he would leap at the chance to play Batman. Whether it’s in interviews, social media posts, or casual conversations, he’s always ready to express his enthusiasm for the role. Now, in a recent appearance on WIRED’s Autocomplete Interview, Ritchson was once again asked about the rumor.

I get asked every day if I’m playing Batman. Yeah, would I play Batman? Yes. Would I pay handsomely to be Batman? You wouldn’t even have to pay me to be Batman. I would, yeah, I would don the suit. Said in his Batman voice ‘Gotham is mine.’ Look at that. I don’t even have to practice. It just comes out naturally,” he confidently stated.

It’s clear that Ritchson doesn’t just see Batman as another role, he sees it as a dream come true. His enthusiasm is infectious, and it’s easy to see why fans like the idea of him taking on the role. His passion for the character goes beyond just the action-packed nature of Batman’s world. 

Moreover, in a past interview with THR, Ritchson revealed what really fascinates him about the Caped Crusader. “Here’s the thing about Batman, you know what his superpower is? Intelligence. The dude is the smartest superhero there is. He’s inventive, and he’s got all the gadgets, but he’s super smart,” he explained.

Despite the overwhelming fan support, the road to Gotham isn’t a smooth one for Alan Ritchson. James Gunn has publicly denied that Alan Ritchson is in the running for the role. With ‘The Brave and the Bold’ set to introduce a new Batman in the DC Universe, casting speculation is running wild. However, Ritchson’s name hasn’t been mentioned in official conversations.

Still, that hasn’t stopped fans from pushing for him. Many believe that his performance as Jack Reacher proves he is the perfect fit for the dark knight. Ritchson even joked about the fact that James Gunn had to personally debunk rumors about him playing Batman. Moreover, this hasn’t curbed his enthusiasm at all.

Additionally, physically, Ritchson is already a great fit. At 6’2” and with a muscular build, he has the imposing presence that Batman requires. More importantly, his love for the character shines through. While for now, his casting seems like a long shot, anything is possible in the future.
