Alan Ritchson who portrayed the iconic Jack Reacher in the ‘Reacher’ TV series has always been open about wanting to portray the caped crusader. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Alan once again talked about playing Batman, just like Jake Gyllenhaal recently expressed interest in playing the role.
After being asked about whether he would like to play DC‘s Batman, Alan was quick to say yes. “I would love to play Batman. There, I said it. I’ll shout it from the rooftops- I want to be Bruce Wayne! Here’s the thing about Batman, [do] you know what his superpower is? Intelligence.”
He explained that the reason behind his wanting to play Batman was because according to him he was the ‘smartest superhero‘. “He’s the smartest superhero there is, he’s inventive and has all the gadgets and stuff, but he’s super smart.”
However, despite Alan’s eagerness, it’ll take a few years before another Batman casting. This is because James Gunn’s DCU is focusing more on Superman feature films rather than the Dark Knight.
‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson Is A Huge Batman Fan
With Alan’s immaculate portrayal in ‘Reacher,’ there was speculation going around regarding the actor playing Batman. However, in an interview, Alan addressed the rumors. “With all the rumors flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman.”
He even addressed people’s analogy where they compared his ‘Reacher’ to DC’s Batman. “You know, Batman without a cape is a great analogy. But I mean, Batman has got a cave, and Reacher doesn’t even have a house. He’s got a toothbrush. So, I think Batman has got cool stuff. The dude is loaded and has caves, penthouses, and spotlights that call him. Batman’s cooler.”
