Even though James Gunn’s ‘Superman has been an undeniable success and the DCU is getting more and more buzz, the next big Superman movie won’t have David Corenswet in the lead.

Instead, DC’s animated hit ‘My Adventures with Superman’ is getting its shot at the spotlight first, and in all honesty, it could be one of the most exciting Superman projects of the year.

‘My Adventures With Superman’ Is Doing What Fans Love Most About Clark

The series will be back this summer for season 3, much sooner than the DCU’s ‘Man of Tomorrow’ in 2027. It’s not a part of the main continuity, but ‘My Adventures with Superman’ is one of DC’s best modern interpretations of the character.

The show’s embrace of the warm, hopeful, and slightly awkward nature that makes Clark Kent such a timeless hero has been met with a tremendous response from fans. That’s one of the many reasons why season 3 already feels like a big deal.

One of the most redeeming features of the TV show is its personal touch. The show isn’t just about the big stakes to build the giant universe; it takes time to examine Clark Kent as a real person. His relationships, insecurities, and sense of responsibility are always at the forefront.

That human approach has led to Jack Quaid’s version of the Man of Steel being a favorite. The show has a lot of heart, and Clark is not only powerful in this series, but he’s also genuinely compassionate. Another major plus for Season 3 is the fact that it is taking elements from the popular comic “Reign of the Supermen”

That means new Kryptonian characters and even more pressure on Clark’s identity as the world’s symbol of hope can come in. However, unlike some recent DC projects, this Superman is not just a cog in the larger universe machine.

That is not to say that the DCU is in poor shape going forward. Far from it. As for the future, Corenswet’s Superman remains the focal point of James Gunn’s plans, and his cameo in ‘Supergirl’ should help keep that momentum going.

However, at the moment, ‘My Adventures with Superman‘ has one thing going for it: It’s totally free to devote all its attention to Clark Kent and his world. It also helps that the series is starting to explore characters like Superboy, while also continuing to develop Supergirl, providing more of Superman’s extended mythology than the live-action DCU currently does.

It’s a breath of fresh air. ‘My Adventures with Superman’ stands out from the myriad of superhero tales that are now filled with massive crossovers and esoteric plotlines by maintaining its focus on the appeal of the character itself. He embodies hope, and the animated series knows more about that than most modern comic book adaptations.
