Does General Zod Kill Superman In New ‘The Flash’ Movie?

The long-awaited The Flash‘ is all set to be released on the big screens on 16 June. Numerous setbacks within the DC Universe and a change in ownership have led to many changes in the cast and storyline. The trailer of the new movie dropped many clues on who will resurrect from the dead and the possible future of the DC superheroes.

The new ‘The Flash’ movie is inspired by the Flashpoint – where Barry Allen travels in the past to save his mother, which disrupts reality leading to messy timelines. The idea might draw a parallel from ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ – all three Spidermen from different universes end up in one. But in ‘The Flash‘ movie, the villain from 2013’s Man of Steel resurrects.

Does General Zod Return In ‘The Flash’ Movie?

Micheal Shannon reprises his role as General Zod after 2013’s ‘Man of Steel‘. Shannon made a cameo appearance in the 2016 ‘Batman V Superman‘ as Zod’s corpse. Zod’s corpse was taken by Lex Luthor and transformed into the apocalyptic monster Doomsday. But the new Flash movie brings back the greatest villain of the DC Universe. Zod, suited up in his Kyrtptonian armor is visible in quite a few shots in the trailer of ‘The Flash‘ movie, starring Ezra Miller as the titular character.

The return of Shannon’s Zod was a huge plot twist for the fans, which also raise questions about Superman’s return. It was in ‘Superman V Batman: Dawn of Justice’, Superman is ultimately killed by Doomsday in the final battle. Other than General Zod, Ben Affleck’s Batman, and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl. But since James Gunn is planning to bring in a new superman, Harry Cavill’s Superman might not make any appearance in the new ‘Flash‘ movie. Instead, even in the trailer, a tattered suit of superman is shown indicating that he is already killed. So basically the movie picks up after the ‘Dawn of Justice‘, which killed Superman, but due to changes in the timeline Zod is resurrected.

    What Is A Flashpoint?

‘The Flash’ a standalone movie directed by Andy Muschietti is expected to be inspired by Flashpoint which expands the DC multiverse. One of the obvious indicators of this influence is the presence of two Batman: Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck and also the survival of Nora Allen. In the original timeline, she is killed by a mysterious entity, and her husband is framed for the crime. Later revealed that this mysterious entity was a reverse flash.

The Flashpoint begins with Barry traveling back in time to save his mother the night of the attack, hence altering the timeline. This action sparks a new timeline in which the Flash, Justice League, and Superman do not exist. Since the new Flash movie is inspired by Flashpoint, it makes sense with Superman still being dead. It is already revealed that this new movie won’t only revolve around its titular character, and there is something even much juicer than the return of the greatest villain of the DC Universe.
