The DC Studios have been going through a revamp since James Gunn and Peter Safran took the creative steering into their hands! Since the Warner Bros. and Discovery merger, David Zaslav has been persistent in trying to revive certain mainstream characters as well as bring forth the narrative of the secondary characters. Now, Gunn is searching for his next Superman and Lois Lane, and Rachel Brosnahan is one of the contenders for the latter.
The upcoming ‘The Flash’ marks the foray of the DCEU into a new timeline. James Gunn and Peter Safran have laid off certain actors while chalking out their five-year plan. There was chatter that Henry Cavill would don the Superman cape again during the ‘Black Adam’ promotional activities. It was even confirmed in the post-credit scene of the film. But, in December 2022, Cavill confirmed that he would not be playing the Kryptonian anymore. So, ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ actor is the lead contender for Lois Lane.
Rachel Brosnahan Says That Starring As Lois Lane In The James Gunn Directorial Will Be Extraordinary
James Gunn, while talking about the revival of the DCEU and his five-year plan, teased a new Superman film. While clarifying the departure of Henry Cavill, he said, “In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill.” So, he will also be aiming to cast a fresh new face for the character of Lois Lane.
Actresses like Elizabeth Tulloch, Margot Kidder, Amy Adams, and others have played the fiery journalist and love interest of Clark Kent. Now, Rachel Brosnahan is excited to take the baton if she gets cast in the film. During an interview with The View, the actress said, “I mean, look, taking everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt is my first piece of advice.”
She continued, “Look, it would be extraordinary. I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist, far from a damsel in distress, and I would jump at the chance if it arose.”

David Corenswet Is The Lead Contender To Play Superman
For James Gunn, Superman is the most relatable character. During an interview, he said, “I completely relate to Superman because he’s everything I am. He’s somebody who is an outsider who feels like an alien, but also the ultimate insider because he’s fucking Superman. And that’s kind of like what I feel like.” So, while the character enters a new era, the director is also super specific about the casting.
The rumor was that the ‘Euphoria’ star, Jacob Elordi, would play the character. But it is now said that David Corenswet, the ‘Pearl’ actor, is leading the race. Tom Britnney and Andrew Richardson are the other contenders, as per The Hollywood Reporter. But it is important to note that these names are not part of the final shortlist.
