James Gunn has joined DC Studios as co-CEO and this has led to the reboot of various projects. This includes Superman following which Henry Cavill stepped down from the role despite his cameo in ‘Black Adam.’
Gunn’s project is titled ‘Superman: Legacy’ and it is scheduled to be released in 2025. The project is two years away and while audiences are waiting to know who would play the lead, Gunn has expressed his frustration with the same.

Ever since James Gunn announced ‘Superman: Legacy’, audiences have expressed their excitement considering that Gunn has promised to bring improvements to the DCEU. However, the fans of the franchise are also questioning who would play the lead role and this has frustrated Gunn.
Auditions are being reportedly conducted and no one has been chosen as of now to portray Clark Kent. There have been reports coming out of who has been cast in the lead role and addressing the same, Gunn said that all of them are not true.
Gunn further stated that he cannot give updates on what is true and what is not without confirming anything. He added: “And by the way, it’s not the audience’s … Right now, at this point, I don’t think it’s the business of anyone [but] who’s screen-testing for a role. That is a very private thing.”

‘Superman: Legacy’ Status Update
After James Gunn joined DC Studios in 2022, a new Superman project was announced and it was titled ‘Superman: Legacy.’ The film will be released on July 11, 2025, and for now, detailed information on the plot has not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, James Gunn has stated that the film won’t feature an origin story of the character. The filming process for the project will be starting in January 2024. Speaking about the casting, Gunn said that they have some excellent choices and he should be portrayed by someone who has the same kindness and compassion as Superman.
