Why Did Margot Robbie Turned Down Playing Harley Quinn?
Becoming a global icon, after the success of ‘Barbie’, Margot Robbie brought Harley Quinn to life in live-action projects like ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Birds of Prey’. However, the actress wanted other female actors to take over the role and was completely supportive of Lady Gaga for taking over the role.
During an interview with Variety, Margot Robbie opened up about passing down the role. The actress said, “I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters,” Robbie said. “That was always the dream for her. Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, ‘What are they going to do with her?’ The options are endless.”
‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ starring Joaquin Phoenix and Kady Gaga will hit the theaters on October 4, 2024.
