Elon Musk received blowback from right-wing activists on Friday after responding “no” to a user urging the new Twitter chief to reinstate conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Musk once described himself as a “free speech absolutist.” However, since he officially became Twitter’s new owner and was confronted with the reality of the advertising market, he has shifted that stance.

Why Elon Musk Is Not Reinstating Alex Jones’ Twitter Account?
Musk announced on Twitter that previously suspended accounts, including comedian Kathy Griffin and right-wing satirical site the Babylon Bee, have had their accounts restored. However, Musk has indicated that he does plan to put parameters on speech on Twitter. For example, one Twitter user asked Musk to “Bring back Alex Jones!!!!,” to which Musk replied with a firm “No.”
Jones, a right-wing conspiracy theorist and Sandy Hook school-shooting denier was permanently banned from Twitter in 2018 for “abusive behavior.” Musk’s initial vision of an entirely “free speech platform” has come up against the realities of running Twitter as a profitable business.

Alex Jones Responds To Elon Musk’s Denial To Reinstate Him On Twitter
A video circulating on Twitter shows Alex Jones responding to the statement by Elon Musk which denied the reinstatement of Jones’ Twitter account. Jones noted that he “understands” why Musk is not trying to reinstate him and said that it’s because “Democrats” and “EU” are “on him, trying to shut him out right now.”
He also asked the viewers not to blame Elon Musk for not bringing him back to Twitter. Jones responded, “It’s fine Elon. Just follow through on your promise to bring back some simultaneous freedom to Twitter. Lets see if you can get that done.”
