‘Big Brother‘ is hosted by Julie Chen, a show which follows a group of people living together in a house installed with 94 HD cameras and 113 microphones recording the participant’s every move. By the end of each week, someone is voted out of the house and the last remaining house guest receives the prize of $750,000.
During the Thursday night episode, Julie Chen announced that one of the participants, Luke Valentine, has been removed from the game as a result of breaking ‘Big Brother’s’ code of conduct. The controversy behind Valentine leaving the house unfolded just a week after the start of the 25th Season.

Luke Valentine Removed From ‘Big Brother’ House Due To Racial Slur
This is not the first time the House of ‘Big Brother’ has removed a contestant because of racial and discriminatory comments. During the latest episode, ‘Big Brother’ addressed the removal of contestant Luke Valentine following his use of the N-word during a Paramount+ live feed. Valentine used the racial slur during a casual conversation with fellow housemates including Hisam Goueli, Cory Wurtenberger, and Jared Fields. After dropping the N-word, Valentine immediately became aware of his on-camera faux pas and said “Dude” instead. After this incident, Valentine was called into the Dairy room and was never seen again.
The current head of Household Reilly read the message to her other housemates stating, “Due to violating the Big Brother code of conduct by using a racial slur, Luke has been removed from the house and will no longer be participating in the Big Brother game. The game goes on, and the live vote and eviction will continue as scheduled”. Also on Wednesday, CBS issued a statement telling, “Luke violated the Big Brother code of conduct and that there is zero tolerance in the house for using a racial slur. He has been removed from the house. His departure will be addressed in Thursday night’s show.”

Other Participants Who Got In Trouble For Racial And Discriminatory Comments
Luke Valentine is not the only participant who got kicked out of the house for his racial slur. Even in the past ‘Big Brother’ has been criticized for tolerating racial comments. In season 15 houseguest Aaryn Gries described Asians as “squinty-eyed”. Gries also berated an Asian American contestant saying, “Shut up and go make some rice”, and she also made a homophobic slur against another participant.
Season 24 made history with Taylor Hale becoming the first Black woman to win the CBS reality competition. Following her win, race became an issue when a contestant Kyle Capener suggested forming an all-white alliance after becoming suspicious of an alliance of BIPOC members that included Hale. Capener was deemed racist by his houseguests and viewers and was evicted from the game shortly after.
