In ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘, Jake Peralta is often referred to as the best detective of the entire Nine-Nine squad. Despite being immeasurably immature and irresponsible, he gets results and can solve cases that many others cannot. His cool quirky catch-phrases and his innocent childhood traumas and being righteous at all time has won the hearts of many.
His techniques and general practices are unconventional and have no right in reaping the rewards and results that they do, but more often than not, he finds a way to crack through even the cases that are deemed unsolvable. There are many cases that he solves alone, but there are also instances of him bouncing off a colleague in order to get to the truth.

Jake Instantly Deduced Who Everyone Had Drawn For Secret Santa
During a cold open in Season 5, the squad is pulling names out to decide who has to buy Christmas presents for who. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) enters the room, and in his ever so suave-show-off he deduces who got who. It’s like every little thing is a case for Jake just waiting for him to solve. He instantly figures out who everyone has, ruining the surprise for everyone else.
The likes of Hitchcock, Scully, and Boyle having obvious tells could be picked up by anybody. However, Jake solving everybody else’s as well is a flex on Jake’s part, mainly due to his deduction and delivery speed. Although this isn’t a solved matter under the pressure of a real case, it is still a display of undeniable skills as a detective.
A Depressed & Sleep-Deprived Jake Peralta Managed To Solve An Unsolvable Case
In an episode titled ‘Unsolvable‘, Jake convinces Terry to join him in revisiting an old case that the two had previously worked on. They find themselves repeating every stage of the case and they make no real progress, seemingly reaffirming its status as unsolvable. However, we all know Peralta could pull this off.
Jake pulls an all-nighter on his quest to solve the unsolvable, and he eventually figures out the details. After picking apart the polygraph test of the initially alleged culprit’s wife, he figures out that the supposed victim and culprit switched places in a rather spectacular reveal. Thus solving the case and once again proving why Jake Peralta is one of the best detectives in the Nine-Nine.
