Comic books have always been in the spotlight as they have been adapted in the form of TV shows or movies over the years. While we have witnessed the rise and evolution of different comic book series, writer Alan Moore decided to do something new and different with ‘Watchmen.’
The comic book is the result of an original story that was sent to DC by Moore. It had superheroes acquired from Charlton Comics. But the story could have left many characters useless for the upcoming storylines and so Moore was advised to bring original characters.

Alan Moore Disowned The Adaptation Of ‘Watchmen’
Alan Moore disclosed back in 2022 that he disowned the HBO adaptation of his novel and cut all ties with the showrunner. Moore said that the showrunner sent a letter to him saying that he was one of the ‘bastards’ who destroyed ‘Watchmen.’ He said that Warner Bros. was aware of the fact that he told them not to contact him again.
He added that he disowned his work since the film industry and the comics industry created everything that was not associated with his work. He added, “Look, this is embarrassing to me. I don’t want anything to do with you or your show. Please don’t bother me again.”
Moore said that he was surprised when the HBO show won several accolades at the Primetime Emmy Awards. He stated that the adaptation was simple compared to the original novel. He added that he has never watched the adaptations of ‘Watchmen’ as he is assured that it will be a torturous experience for him.
