Dave Chapelle directly addressed Kanye West, when he hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’ for the third time on November 12. The stand-up comedian was addressing the rapper’s recent anti-Semitic comments, that led to West’s downfall. “I don’t think Kanye is crazy, he’s possibly not well,” he reasoned. “I’ve been to Hollywood, this is just what I saw. It’s a lot of Jews. Like a lot. There are a lot of Black people in Ferguson, Missouri, doesn’t mean they run the place. You might go out in Hollywood and you might start connecting some kind of lines and you might adopt the delusion that Jews run show business. It’s not a crazy thing to think but it’s a crazy thing to say out loud,” Chapelle added. The racist and anti-semitic comments led to the ban of Kanye’s social media accounts and his brand Yeezy disconnecting from Adidas.

Dave Chapelle was also facing backlash recently due to the transphobic comments he made in ‘The Closer’, a special Netflix series from 2021. But the comedian did not address the issues in this episode. According to Page Six, on November 9, it was reported that several of the SNL writers were boycotting the show because of Chapelle. “They’re not going to do the show,” a source told the website. But it was noted that ‘SNL’s cast members including Molly Kerney, the first non-binary cast member did participate in the show.
