James Gunn Confirms He Will Be Directing ‘Superman: Legacy’
James Gunn was one of the top directors for Marvel Studios. However, last year, he was hired by DC Studios to do an overhaul. Since then, Gunn and Peter Safran have made some drastic changes in their slate.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn has confirmed that ‘Superman: Legacy‘ will be his next directorial venture. The project, which he has been writing even before joining DC, is scheduled to release on July 11, 2025.
Safran, who is the co-chairman and co-CEO of the studio along with Gunn, had talked about the film in January. “It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing“, he said.
He further added: “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks that kindness is old-fashioned.” Gunn explained that he was hesitant to direct the film because he could not find a way to give Superman “the dignity he deserved.” However, he changed his mind and decided to direct the feature.
