Chappelle’s 2022 ‘Saturday Night Live‘ monologue has become the talk of the town. In it, the comedian took a dig at Kanye West for his recent controversies.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld talked about the monologue. He said that he found it funny but the issue calls for a conversation.

I did think the comedy was well-executed, but I think the subject matter calls for a conversation that I don’t think I’d want to have in this venue“, Jerry said.

When asked if it made him comfortable, he said: “It provokes a conversation which hopefully is productive.” He also said that he doesn’t “have a close relationship with [Dave]. We’re friends and it’s not a close relationship.”

Chappelle and Kanye West have been friends for a long time. However, the recent behavior of the ‘Donda‘ rapper has created a distance between the two.

On November 12, the comedian took a dig at Ye in his SNL monologue. “I don’t think Kanye is crazy, he’s possibly not well,” he said. “I’ve been to Hollywood, this is just what I saw.”

He continued, “It’s a lot of Jews. Like a lot. There are a lot of Black people in Ferguson, Missouri, doesn’t mean they run the place. You might go out in Hollywood and you might start connecting some kind of lines and you might adopt the delusion that Jews run show business.”

“It’s not a crazy thing to think but it’s a crazy thing to say out loud,” Chapelle added. Several Jewish organizations have called out Chappelle for saying these things.
