Jorginho has clarified that his recent dispute involving Chappell Roan was the result of a misunderstanding, following confusion over a security guard who confronted his family. In a statement shared on April 13, 2026, Jorginho said he wanted to “set the record straight” after initially criticizing the singer over an incident at a hotel.
He wrote, “I regret the impact this situation has had on Chappell Roan, Catherine, Ada, and our family.” The soccer player added that his initial response came “in the heat of the moment” and said he reacted to the situation “as any father would.”
Jorginho also revealed that Roan had since reached out privately to his wife, making it clear that the singer “had no knowledge” of what happened and “had not asked anyone to approach them.” While Jorginho said he still does not understand why the security guard reacted so intensely, he indicated that he is ready to move on from the incident.
The situation began last month when Jorginho publicly criticized Roan, alleging that a security guard, initially believed to be part of the singer’s team, spoke “in an extremely aggressive manner” to his wife and their 11-year-old daughter during breakfast at the hotel where they were staying.

Roan later responded, clarifying that the bodyguard was not part of her team and that she was unaware the child had walked past her table. The security guard also supported her account, taking “full responsibility” for his actions and stating he was not working for Roan, but was instead representing Sabrina Carpenter.

In his original statement, Jorginho detailed the incident, explaining how it unfolded during a family breakfast at a hotel. “This morning, my daughter woke up incredibly excited, she even made a sign because she was so happy to see an artist she really admires, or used to admire: Chappell Roan,” penned Jorginho on Instagram.
He added, “By coincidence, they’re staying at the same hotel as this artist. During breakfast, the artist walked past their table. My daughter, like any child, recognised her, got excited, and just wanted to make sure it was really her.”
The former Chelsea player further explained, “And the worst part is she didn’t even approach her. She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything. What happened next was completely disproportionate.”
He added, “A large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and my daughter, saying that she shouldn’t allow my daughter to ‘disrespect’ or ‘harass’ other people.”
Jorginho added that the encounter left his daughter visibly shaken and in tears, as the guard continued to issue threats. While he acknowledged the importance of maintaining boundaries as a public figure, he stressed that, in his view, the situation had crossed a line.
