Lady And The Tramp‘ is a significant film from Disney Studios. The 1955 animated musical romance film was their 15th animated feature in a row. Despite receiving mixed responses during release, the film went on to achieve cult status over the years among moviegoers and critics.

The film spawned a sequel, and a remake and is loved by many. All these films have one thing in common, dogs. The four-legged creatures are extensively featured in the films. So it’s worth exploring all the dog characters as well as their different breed.

People who have not seen ‘Lady And The Tramp‘ are also aware of the popular scene where two dogs are eating spaghetti. Lady, the main character, is an American Cocker Spaniel. Throughout the course of the story, she starts questioning her relationship with humans.

Tramp, the second lead in the film, is a mongrel which is a mixed breed of a schnauzer and a terrier dog. Jock, who is one of the neighbors of Lady, belongs to the Scottish Terrier breed.

Trusty, another interesting dog in the story, lost his ability to smell. He is a bloodhound breed dog. All these characters have human characteristics and are a part of Disney’s stories that feature anthropomorphic characters.

Apart from the major characters, the film is filled with dogs from different breeds in minor roles. One of them is Boris, who lives in the dog pound and speaks in a funny Russian accent. He is a Russian Borzoi breed dog.

Toughy is another stray male dog from the dog pound who is a mutt (a mixed breed). He speaks in a Brooklyn accent. Pedro is a male Chihuahua who speaks with a Mexican accent.

The film’s sequel titled, ‘Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure’ was released direct-to-video on February 2001. It was followed by a namesake live-action/animation remake which was released in 2019.
