Kevin Feige is one of the most powerful people in the entertainment industry right now. As the chief of Marvel Studios, he has overseen many blockbusters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He is also credited for taking the studio to new heights.
Recently, it was announced that DC Comics has shelved one of their most ambitious projects, ‘Batgirl.’ The $90 million project was shockingly shelved by Warner Bros. as a tax write-down after being shot. Kevin and several other celebrities have come out in support of the film.

Kevin Fiege Reaches Out To The Director Of Shelved Batgirl Film
Warner Bros recently shelved their $90 million project, a solo ‘Batgirl’ film for DC Comics. This move has shocked everyone and it has started a wave of sympathy for the film.
Adil El Arbi, the film’s co-director, has revealed that many Hollywood bigwigs have reached out to him for support. This includes Marvel chief Kevin Feige, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and Baby Driver director Edgar Wright.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, El Arbi quoted Feige’s email to himself and co-director Bilall Fallah. It says, “My friends, I had to reach out and let you know we are all thinking about you both. Because of the wonderful news about the wedding (congrats!) and the disappointing news about Batgirl. Very proud of you guys and all the amazing work you do and particularly Ms. Marvel of course! Can’t wait to see what is next for you. Hope to see you soon.”
El Arbi further added, “Thanks for all the messages of support all over the world. Shoutout directors Edgar Wright and James Gunn, your kind words and experience mean a lot and help us through this difficult period #batgirlforlife.”
Both the directors helmed two episodes of the television series ‘Ms. Marvel’ for Feige.
Warner Bros. Shelved Batgirl For Cost-Saving
Earlier this week, it was announced that Warner Bros. will not be releasing ‘Batgirl, the DC film that already finished shooting. The film, starring Leslie Grace, was supposed to arrive on HBO Max this year.
This weird and unexpected move came after a leadership change in the studio; Warner Bros. Discovery has a new CEO David Zaslav. He is prioritizing cost-cutting measures and focusing on making theatrical films rather than projects for streaming services.
Batgirl was given a budget of nearly $80 million. But the cost rose to nearly $90 million due to COVID-19 protocols. The amount is significantly lower than other DC superhero films.
The move has received widespread criticism from fans. It also led DC Films president Walter Hamada to exit the studio. But he has now agreed to stay at least until the release of Black Adam.
