The Brangelina magic in 2005’s ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ will be recreated on the small screen for the new Amazon Prime Video series with the same moniker. The new project, when announced, starred Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, but since she walked out, Maya Erskine will play Jane Smith.
‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ will follow the same trope as the blockbuster 2005 film starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Two strangers, espionage, and a turbulent fake marriage. Only this time will the project not be affected by any cheating controversies that happened almost two decades ago. Along with starring in the project, Donald Glover serves as a writer and executive producer on the series.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phoebe admitted that she cared about the project while citing the reason for her exit.
Phoebe-Waller Bridge said, “I worked on that show for six months fully in heart and mind and really cared about it — still care about it. And I know it’s gonna be brilliant. But sometimes it’s about knowing when to leave the party.”
