Despite an almost three-year gap between Seasons 3 and 4, ‘Stranger Things‘ delivered. Off-screen, the characters looked their age, but the events of the fourth season would have aged anyone, especially if they were fighting to rescue the planet.
In the aftermath of the spectacular Season 4 conclusion, we’re as ravenous as an underfed Demogorgon for more Upside Down particles to settle. Fortunately, a lot of information has leaked out regarding the Netflix show’s last season.

The Fifth Season Of ‘Stranger Things’ Will Be The Last One
With nine episodes clocking in at a minimum of an hour and a half in length, and the season finale clocking in at two hours and twenty minutes, the massive Season 4 provided a wealth of background. Because the first half contained most of the episodes, it was split into two volumes, with the second half featuring just the monumental disclosure of Vecna’s actual identity. During the Season 4 conclusion, Hawkins, Indiana, was given a glimmer of hope for the future.
The Duffer Brothers have already started teasing the fifth and final season of their sci-fi drama series with cryptic tweets. They declared that Season 5 would be the final one when they revealed the release dates for Season 4.
In their letter to the audience, they laid out the strategy for the show’s initial run. It also raised the possibility of a spin-off. As a result of a difference in plot format, Season 5 will not be as long as Season 4, however, Matt Duffer emphasized that Season 4 had laid the groundwork for Season 5.
“We thought Season 4 was going to be eight [episodes], and they were going to be regular length. So if you had interviewed us before four, that’s what I would’ve said,” he told Collider. “I think we’re aiming for eight again. We don’t want it to be 13 hours. We’re aiming for more like 10 hours or something. I think it’s going to be longer than Season 1 because we just have so much to wrap up, but I don’t think it’s going to be as long as Season 4.”
Season 5’s Writing Room Will Open In August
Season 5’s writer’s room, according to the Duffer Brothers, will open in August. The release date of 2024 or 2025 might then be expected.
Ross Duffer said that “we’re planning to take a short vacation in July. After that, we’ll be right back. That first week of August, I know the writer’s room will begin.”
As disclosed in the same interview, the six-month break from production caused by the COVID outbreak has given the brothers the time they needed to plot and write much of Season 5.
Netflix Is Likely To Release All Of Season 5 At Once
Netflix’s president of scripted programs for the United States and Canada, Peter Friedlander, has said that Season 5 will not be broken up into weekly episodes.
“We fundamentally believe that we want to give our members the choice in how they view,” the Netflix executive said. “And so, giving them that option on these scripted series to watch as much as they want to watch when they watch it, is still fundamental to what we want to provide. And so when you see something like a batched season with ‘Stranger Things,’ this is our attempt at making sure we can get shows out quicker to the members.”
