John Oliver is a popular British-American comedian, actor, and television host. Since 2014, the 45-year-old comic has been the host of the HBO series ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.’ The show has earned him widespread critical praise and recognition across the globe.
Oliver apparently took a dig at the response to the death of Queen Elizabeth II in one of the episodes. That bit led Sky TV channel to censor the comment from the show in the United Kingdom. What was the comment? Well, let’s find out more about what Oliver said.
John Oliver Slams Sky TV For Censoring His Comment
Oliver is someone who doesn’t shy away from calling a spade a spade. The comedian raises social and political issues in a funny manner on his show. His recent comment about Queen’s death led Sky to censor that episode.
In his recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Oliver slammed Sky TV and said that it was “pretty shitty” to have his jokes censored. Post Queen’s death, Oliver said on his episode that the U.K. was “reeling from the shocking death of a 96-year-old woman from natural causes.”
“All we said was that Britain is still mourning the shocking loss — right? — of a 96-year-old woman from natural causes. It’s literally not a joke,” Oliver told Meyers.
He continued, “scientifically, it’s not a joke. That’s just a fact with a kind of dick-ish inflection, that’s all it is. And yet they cut it out, which is pretty shitty because apparently, all we’ve heard all week is the Queen had this incredible sense of humor. Just nonstop. Oh, she was so funny. Seth, she was so funny. The Queen, she was razor sharp.”

Oliver Had Also Roasted The UK’s Reaction To Queen’s Death
The comedian had also taken a dig at the U.K.’s reaction to Queen Elizabeth II’s death. He called it “a big moment which for some reason absolutely everyone felt that they had to weigh in on, from Crazy Frog, which tweeted out ‘RIP the Queen’ candle emoji, a tweet that’s impossible to read without mentally adding [Crazy Frog’s dance music].”
“[sic] to Dominos U.K. which posted, ‘Everyone at Dominos joins the nation and the world in mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts and condolences are with the Royal Family.’”
Several users had slammed Sky TV for censoring that bit from Oliver’s show. One user took to social media and called them “cowards.” Any chance you can put it up on here?”
