‘House of the Dragon’ season 1 sets up the major issue over the rightful heir of King Viserys I Targaryen. Viserys even told Rhaenyra Targaryen that she must marry and have children to strengthen her succession. It is supposed that Harwin Strong might be the father of Rhaenyra Targaryen.
In ‘HOD‘, episode 3 featured an interaction between Rhaenyra and the alleged father of her children. In George R.R. Martin’s ‘Fire and Blood’ book, Princess Rhaenyra arguably has one of the most interesting storylines in Targaryen history. With that established, who is the real father of Rhaenyra’s children?
Who Is Harwin Strong?
In HOD, Strongs have made themselves known well. Among them, Harwin Strong has gotten quite the hold in the plot right now. Harwin has had only minor roles in the beginning yet things are set to get much bigger for the character.
Harwin is a member of the King’s Landing City Watch and is believed to be the strongest man in all of Westeros. As a result of his immaculate strength, he got the moniker Breakbones.
He also noticed that Rhaenyra dressed as a boy on her big night out with Daemon, but let her go. Harwin also was at Rhaenyra’s wedding and acted as crowd control to ensure her safety as a fight broke out.
Is Harwin The Father Of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s Children?
House Strong is a prominent noble house based in the Riverlands. The members of the house are believed to be descended from the First Men. Harwin Strong is rumoured to be the father of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s three sons Jacarys, Lucerys, and Joffrey.
It is rumoured even though Rhaenyra is married to Laenor Velaryon. This is because in the book, Laenor is gay and it was specified that their union is a marriage of convenience. Rumour started when all three sons had dark hair like Harwin while both Rhaenyra and Laenor have silver hair.
Since, HOD already has hinted towards this storyline, with Harwin appearing in a couple of scenes with Rhaenyra, it is only natural to speculate that he could be the father of Rhaenyra’s children.
