The Black comedy neighborhood is in a bit of unrest these few days. It all started with Katt Williams making some mean comments about his fellow Black comedians during an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay‘ podcast. And Dave Chappelle had things to say about it.
Chappelle, a respected name in the field recently called out Williams on his behavior. We are yet to see a counter from Kitt’s side.

Dave Chappelle Berates Katt Williams Of Focusing On Just Black Comedians
Katt Williams went viral this month for his comments about Ice Cube, Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, Ludacris, Rickey Smiley, and Kevin Hart among others during an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay‘ podcast. His interview was even parodied on ‘Saturday Night Live‘.
Dave Chappelle was seen criticizing Katt in the clips from his improv set in MonDeRays, hosted by DeRay Davis on January 19. He asked Katt why he was painting a bad picture of the Black comedians when white comics have been stealing jokes forever. He questioned, “What part of the game is this? He ethered n**gas. He didn’t say anything about any of these white boys. None of these white boys function like that. Katt is one of the best painters in the game. So why are you drawing ugly pictures of us?”
Williams during the interview accused Cedric the Entertainer of stealing his closing joke from BET’s Comic View. He also called Kevin Hart an industry “plant,” shaded Ludacris to having “sold his soul“, and said Steve Harvey couldn’t be a movie star because he looks “like Mr. Potato Head”. He mentioned Dave Chappelle briefly saying how he could reject a $50 million cheque four times referencing how Dave refused to continue his ultra-hit ‘Chapelle’s Show‘ from 2003.

Dave Says Things Were Hard For Him Too
While Dave didn’t deny any allegations per se, he did stress that Katt was creating problems for their industry, resulting in a loss for everyone. There will be ups and downs, backstabbing and all and he was no stranger to them. He explained, “I lost everything and never, ever told on anybody, and this n**ga’s the arbiter of truth. Katt, listen, I f**k with Katt hard, but… DeRay, tell me, what part of the game f**ks up another n**ga’s paper? What part of the game is about telling on another n***a?“
Cedric has taken to social media refuting all the accusations. And Kevin Hart in a cheeky reply post via X halfway started promoting his new movie ‘Lift‘ (Katt also mentioned Hart being a no-show in the Hollywood industry).
