10) Kirstie Alley
The ‘Cheers‘ actress passed away at the age of 71 after a long battle with colon cancer. She had been an active member of the Church of Scientology. Some of her notable works include ‘Look Who’s Talking’, ‘Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan’ and ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous.’

Liotta was mostly known for his role as mobster Henry Hill in the 1990 crime film directed by Martin Scorsese, ‘Goodfellas.’ He died in his sleep on May 26, 2022, at the age of 67 during the filming of ‘Dangerous Waters.’

Poitier was the first black actor and the first Bahamian to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. He was also the recipient of the Golden Globe Awards, a BAFTA, and a Grammy Award. On January 6, he died at the age of 94 due to cardiopulmonary failure.

The influential French-Swiss director credited for pioneering the French New Wave film movement of the 1960s, died on 13 September at the age of 91. His 1960 crime drama film ‘Breathless‘ remains a classic and is read, dissected, and taught to film students.

On August 5, 2022, Heche was severally injured when she crashed her car into a house at high speed in Los Angeles. The house was damaged and caught a massive fire. A week later on August 11, she died in the hospital while being comatose.
4) Vivienne Westwood
The British fashion designer was credited for bringing modern punk and new-wave fashions into the mainstream. She became popular for running her clothes in a boutique with Malcolm McLaren. On December 29, she died at the age of 81 in Clapham, London.
3) Robbie Coltrane
Robbie Coltrane, who was known for playing Hagrid in the ‘Harry Potter‘ film series, died on 14 October 2022, at the age of 72. He had been suffering from osteoarthritis and was using a wheelchair since 2019. Robbie was also diagnosed with obesity and Type 2 diabetes.

The Brazilian football legend passed away on December 29 at the age of 91 after battling with colon cancer for over a year. Pele is often considered to be one of the most influential sports figures of the 20th century. He became the only player to win three world cups.
1) Queen Elizabeth II
The queen died on September 8 at the age of 96. At the time of her death, she was head of state of 15 realms. She was also the longest-reigning queen of any British monarch and of any female monarch in history. Her son Charles acceded to the throne immediately after her death.
