After turning 20, Linda Kasabian moved to Spahn Ranch in July 1969. The ranch was an old Hollywood studio where westerns were filmed. But it had become the campsite for Charles Manson and his merry little band of followers.

Most of the members of the Manson family were young and impressionable girls. They saw Manson as the father figure, a protector against the dangers of the outside world. Instead, he used them for personal gratification. Charles Manson led his followers to believe a race war was coming. He called it ‘Helter Skelter‘. He was convinced that a killing spree would amp up his imaginary war on everything.

Fed with the Manson propaganda, followers Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Charles Watson started a killing spree beginning with the murder of Sharon Tate and her unborn child. As the group engaged in the killings, Linda Kasabian stood guard outside.
