Death is a messy and tragic subject in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Few Marvel heroes sacrifice themselves when it’s absolutely worthless, some die just by doing the right thing and some don’t deserve to die, while few heroes’ fate is sealed by a less valiant death. In Marvel Comics, some characters don’t even stay dead for a long time and they somehow find a way a bring them back. Unfortunately, it is not the same with the big screen.
From Black Widow to Yondu, certain character deaths absolutely made no sense. And, if there is a plotline to bring them back, then the Marvel creators should definitely execute it.

5. Yondu
“He may have been your father’s boy, but he wasn’t your daddy”. Yondu’s sacrifice was the most tragic and impactful death of the MCU to date. He was first introduced in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume One’ and he instantly developed a soft spot for Peter Quill and grew into a complex father figure. Yondu died heroically to save Star-Lord by giving him a spare space suit, slowly suffocating to death in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume Two’. Neither did he deserve to die nor did his death make any sense, especially for Rocket Raccoon. Vol three revealed Rocket Racoon’s dark past which now makes Yondu’s death meaningless.
4. Yinsen
Yinsen is truly a forgotten hero of the Marvel franchise. He is the person who plays a large role in Tony Stark’s transformation into Iron Man. They both were held captive by the Ten Rings and Yinsen helps Tony build his first Iron Man armor. Additionally, Yinsen also directs Tony toward the path of being a hero and also teaches him to take responsibility. Yisen might have proved to be Tony’s most trusted ally. During their escape, Yinsen is killed for helping to secure Tony’s life.

3. Quicksilver
Quicksilver first made an appearance with his twin sister, Scarlet Witch in the ‘Avengers:Age of Ultron’. He is one of the few important superheroes who have died and stayed dead. The two started as allies of Ultron, seeking vengeance against the Avengers. But they eventually switched sides, teaming up with the Avengers to defeat Ultron and his robot army. In a selfless and daring moment, Quicksilver swooped in to save the life of Hawkeye and a young boy who were about to be mowed down in a hail of gunfire. However, his death was absolutely excessive and could have been avoided. He deserved to be the part of Avengers as Wanda Maximoff has been.
2. Black Widow
Marvel Cinematic Universe was unfair to Black Widow who clearly did not deserve that goodbye. She was one of the founding members of the Avengers and sacrificed her life in order to get the soul stone in ‘Avengers: End Game’. This is the second time that someone has died saving Hawkeye. Black Widow sacrificed her life to save half of the universe believing she had nothing to lose forgetting the family she became a part of – The Avengers. Natasha Romanoff’s death is one of the few deaths that hit the audience on an emotional level.
1. Iron-Man
The most unnecessary death has to be of Iron Man. Easily the biggest and the most tragic death in the MCU to date, when Tony Stark snapped his fingers with all six Infinity Stones in hand, saying his famous last words, “I am Iron Man”, he saved the universe. The selfish, arrogant man went out with a truly selfless act. Marvel needs Iron Man to restore its credibility as it all began with the arrogant industrialist Tony Stark.
