In a twist that will leave Marvel fans stunned, ‘Agatha All Along’ episode 7 has finally confirmed Aubrey Plaza’s character, and it’s not who anyone expected. Plaza’s initial role was set up as Rio Vidal.
However, the mysterious “green witch,” episode 7 revealed that she is, in fact, playing a far more powerful entity. This revelation not only changes the trajectory of the series but also ties together many of the cryptic moments from earlier episodes.
Lilia Uncovers The Identity Of Rio Vidal As Death
The episode, titled “Death’s Hand in Mine,” dives deep into the complex timeline of Lilia Calderu. Her visions have laid the groundwork for the show’s biggest surprises. They also revealed Plaza’s identity as Death Herself. Before the bombshell reveal, ‘Agatha All Along’ had been slowly building up the mystery surrounding Lilia, the divination witch portrayed by Patti LuPone.

Moreover, since her introduction, Lilia’s powers to see across time have been both her gift and her curse. As Jennifer Hale puts it in this episode, Lilia is “going through it,” experiencing her life in a disjointed, non-linear sequence. This made her appear scattered, her warnings cryptic and disjointed, until now.
Lilia’s seemingly random outbursts throughout the season are revealed as fragments of her timeline. Additionally, episode 7 clarifies some of these earlier moments, showing how her mind has been bouncing through time and dropping vital clues to the coven. For example, her incomplete line from episode 4, “Alice don’t…” was actually the beginning of a dire warning for Ali Ahn’s character.
Meanwhile, her nonsensical rambling in episode 3, “…try to save Agatha,” was the ending of that same sentence. These time-shifted warnings now make sense. Lilia had foreseen the moment Agatha would unknowingly siphon off Alice’s magic and inadvertently kill her in episode 5.
Moreover, as Lilia faces her own mortality, she begins to piece together the full picture of what’s happening. Through the use of tarot cards, she reads her own fortune and discovers that the answers to the coven’s salvation lie not in divination but in confronting Death itself. And that’s where Aubrey Plaza’s Rio comes into focus.
Aubrey Plaza As Death: The True Power Behind Rio Vidal
From her introduction, Rio Vidal appeared to be a clever and somewhat menacing new addition to the witches’ coven. However, no one could have predicted the true depth of her role. Rio’s first introduction as “the green witch” in episode 4 hinted at her connection to nature and power.

The fourth episode included Rio telling Agatha, “You get your power and I get my bodies,” a line that felt ominous at the time but didn’t quite reveal the full scope of her identity. Moreover, the subtle foreshadowing continued into episode 5. In the episode, a scene with an Ouija board warned the witches that “death” was in the room.
This causes Rio to burst out laughing maniacally. Her cryptic line, “All roads lead to me,” now takes on a much darker meaning. This wasn’t just a figurative statement but a literal one. Additionally, Lilia’s visions from episode 3 of the witches’ trial by the ocean now make sense. What Lilia had been seeing wasn’t just the trial but the presence of Death, looming over them all.
This realization hits even harder when Lilia, who has been struggling with her fragmented timeline. She finally understands that her own death has been part of the puzzle all along. In an emotionally devastating moment, Lilia sacrifices herself to save the remaining witches from the Salem Seven.
