‘As The Project Evolved…”: Aaron Pierre Reveals He Quit Marvel’s ‘Blade’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming film ‘Blade’ seems to be facing a lot of issues. The film is based on the Marvel comic of the same name. It is set to be released in the cinemas on 7th November 2025. However, to date, only one cast member has been confirmed, making fans worried about its release. 

Actor Aaron Pierre who was a part of the film shared a casting update. While attending the NAACP Image Awards the actor revealed that he would not be a part of Marvel’s ‘Blade’ and had chosen to opt out of the movie. Furthermore, he revealed the projects he was a part of and excited about working on.

‘I’m No Longer A Part Of That’: Actor Aaron Pierre Opts Out Of ‘Blade’

In February 2022, Pierre was revealed as a cast member of ‘Blade‘ and reportedly had a significant part in the Film. While getting interviewed by Variety at the Image Awards actor Aaron Pierre revealed that he opted out of his role in ‘Blade’. He said, “Early on, there were conversations. As the project evolved, I’m no longer part of that — attached.” However, he did not clarify the reason behind his decision. 

He further revealed, “But there are a number of things that I’m tremendously excited about. ‘Rebel Ridge’ with Jeremy Saulnier. And ‘The Lion King’ prequel with Barry Jenkins. All things that are coming out this year that myself and the team are deeply excited about and can’t wait to share with the world and have people engage with it and experience it in whatever way they feel fit.”

A Suit Of Executives Had Previously Left ‘Blade’

Before Aaron, director Bassam Tariq had opted out of the film. However, this was before the production of the movie had begun. Even Stacy Osei-Kuffour who was hired as the writer left the movie. Despite the reasoning behind these executives not being revealed, people are worried about the film’s future.

The lead of the film, Mahershala Ali who was the only actor officially announced by Marvel as the vampire slayer for the movie also talked about the hardships going on with the filming of ‘Blade‘. “We’re working on it. That’s the best I could tell you, I’m really encouraged with the direction of the project. We’ll be back at it relatively soon. I’m sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that. So, that’s the extent of what I can tell you,” he said.
