Marvel has been dishing out a lot of content in recent years. With multiple TV shows and movies, MCU fans have more than enough content to consume, maybe too much more than required. With the increased quantity of content, the quality has taken a massive hit.
Some fans believe this strategy of releasing a huge amount of content in a span has massively contributed to the alleged “superhero fatigue”. It has also led fans to move away from MCU content as they believe Marvel has lost.
Thus to combat this situation, the CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, has come up with a new content strategy so that Marvel fans get enough content that they can enjoy and digest easily.

Bob Iger Is Focusing On the Quality Of Content By Reducing The Output Of MCU
Disney CEO Bob Iger recently talked about the roadmap for the for future plans of the company’s project, particularly for the MCU. Iger revealed that Marvel Studios will only put out 2 to 3 movies and 2 TV series per year.
During Disney’s quarterly earnings call this Tuesday, Iger said, “We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two, or a maximum of three and we’re working hard on what that path is.”
He continued, “Marvel has a couple of good films in ’25 and then we’re heading to more ‘Avengers,’ which we’re extremely excited about. Overall, I feel great about the slate. It’s something that I’ve committed to spending more and more time on. The team is one that I have tremendous confidence in and the IP that we’re mining, including all the sequels that we’re doing, is second to none.”
Fans are quite happy with this announcement as they know how good Marvel projects get when they start focusing on quality. However, many found this odd as they have already announced 4 movies for both 2025 and 2026. ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, ‘Thunderbolts’, ‘The Fantastic Four’ and ‘Blade’, will be released next year.
It has also been reported that Disney has quietly killed multiple projects after the disastrous reception of ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’ and ‘The Marvels’.
In March 2024, Iger denied the existence of the term “superhero fatigue”. He claimed both ‘Black Panther 2’ and ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ made them a good chunk of profit and were released in the same time span. He said, “It’s not audience fatigue. They want great films. And if you build it great, they will come.”

However, the streaming platform is turning a profit for the first time since its launch almost 5 years ago. , Disney+ clocked in 153.6 million total subscribers at the end of March. However, investors expected this number to be a bit higher. Reportedly, they wanted more than 155 million subscribers.
Hugh Johnston, Disney CFO, revealed that Disney+ and Hulu made them a profit of $47 million. In an interview with Bloomberg TV, he said, “We got profitable earlier than we expected as the costs came in better than expected.”
