‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Is The Building Block Preparing Sam Wilson For ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

As the release of ‘Captain America: Brave New World‘ approaches, Anthony Mackie is opening up about how the film will shape Sam Wilson’s journey leading into ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.

With a February 14 premiere just around the corner, excitement is mounting for the first Captain America film without Steve Rogers at the helm. However, for Mackie, this isn’t just a continuation of Sam Wilson’s story, it’s the foundation of something much bigger.

While Sam Wilson officially took up the shield in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, ‘Brave New World’ will cement him as Captain America in the eyes of the MCU and its audience. This is a role that will only grow more crucial in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. According to Anthony Mackie, Sam is expected to assemble a new team of heroes against Doctor Doom.

I feel like this movie, Brave New World, just like Captain America: The First Avenger, is that foundation, that building block to build to that next crescendo, massive moment in the MCU,” Mackie said. “And I just, I’m proud that we’re here at the beginning. Like, I’m proud to say that we’re that footprint that is at the beginning of that walk.”

Additionally, with the Avengers fractured after ‘Endgame’, Sam will be the one to pick up the pieces. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also weighed in, emphasizing that Sam’s journey as Captain America has already won over audiences. While ‘Brave New World’ will serve as the groundwork, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will be the real test.

Sam Wilson Will Never Take The Super Soldier Serum

At a recent press conference, Anthony Mackie spoke about what makes his version of Captain America unique. Unlike Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson has never taken the Super Soldier Serum, meaning he’s not superhuman, he’s just a man with determination and skill.

According to Mackie, that’s exactly what makes him the “everyman’s Captain America.” “This movie establishes Sam as his own being, his own entity or incarnation of Captain America,” Mackie explained. “And the fact that he’s never taken the serum, the fact that he’s every man’s Captain America, I think that’ll have an effect and will pay off greatly in the future of the franchise.”

Moreover, his perspective is what sets Sam apart. He’s not the product of a lab experiment, nor does he have the godlike power of Thor or the genius of Tony Stark. He’s a soldier, a leader, and most importantly, a symbol of resilience.
