Channing Tatum is hoping that his role as Gambit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will allow him to recreate one classic scene from ‘X-Men ’97‘. The actor made his surprise debut as the mutant in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ last year and is eager to continue playing the character.
In a recent Instagram story, Tatum directly appealed to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to make one of Gambit’s most iconic animated moments come to life in live-action.
Gambit’s Legendary Scene In ‘X-Men ’97’
In one of the most memorable scenes from ‘X-Men ’97‘, Gambit showed off his abilities by charging up Wolverine’s claws during a fight. During the very first episode of the show, the whole crew gets to fight Sentinels at an abandoned coal mine. Cyclops, Beast, Bishop, Gambit, and Wolverine, everyone was dismantling these robots.
When things got out of hand, Storm dealt with it and the focus shifted to Master Mold. Wolverine charges to it and then Gambit piggybacks on him and charges his claws. Then with some boost, thanks to Morph transforming to Blob, Wolverine launches up and takes Master Mold’s head off. It was a great sequence, and it made fans realize that Marvel has “cooked” well with this series.
The scene of Gambit charging up Wolverine’s claw was featured in the trailer of the show and fans were waiting to see this. This team-up between the Cajun charm and Canadian feral remains one of the most memorable moments from the beloved cartoon. Channing Tatum is apparently impressed by the sequence and wants to replicate this in a live-action MCU project.

Channing Tatum Makes A Plea To Kevin Feige
In his Instagram story, Tatum shared a reel from the X-Men ’97 fight. The caption simply read “Please Kevin! Please” pleading. While not outright demanding a role where he would Spar with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Tatum was making it clear he hopes to honour that classic scene if given the chance.
His breakout performance in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ has seemingly earned the actor another opportunity to wear Gambit’s trademark trenchcoat and charge playing cards. But only Feige can make the dream of bringing the animated battle to life become reality. Tatum’s passionate request shows his dedication to honouring what made both the character and the X-Men property so iconic for earlier fans.
