It’s been years since Marvel fans have seen more of Elektra, and that wait is about to come to an end. The latest set images of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 seem to confirm the return of one of the show’s most popular characters.

Elektra’s Apparent Return Makes ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Even Bigger

Though Marvel Studios hasn’t officially confirmed Elodie Yung’s return, the footage have already created a lot of buzz online. Even better, Elektra appears to be wearing a new look that is more in line with her comic-book persona than anything she wore on Netflix.

It’s like a long-awaited homecoming for Daredevil and The Defenders fans. Elektra’s last appearance was in the explosive finale of ‘The Defenders’. She was left hanging when Midland Circle failed. Marvel didn’t provide any definite answers regarding Elektra’s fate.

That mystery has been hanging over the area for almost 10 years. Her sudden appearance brings up the question of what happened to her and what her role will be in the future. With the darker storyline of ‘Born Again’, there’s plenty of room for the character to make a dramatic entrance. The new look of the costume is also being noticed. 

The new design seems to be more faithful to the comics while maintaining the grounded tone of the series. The initial looks indicate that the studio has struck the right balance for fans who wished for Marvel to be more of Elektra’s iconic look. Most significantly, her return helps to strengthen Marvel’s ties with the former Netflix heroes.

The Defenders Reunion Is Continuing To Expand

It’s not just a familiar face that’s making a comeback. Season 3 is already in the works to be a full-blown reunion of Marvel’s street-level heroes. Expect to see Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand as well, as the closest thing to a proper Defenders revival since the original crossover series.

That ever-expanding list is at a pivotal moment in Matt Murdock’s tale. Following his public disclosure of his identity and incarceration in Season 2, the hero is now likely to find himself up against his most formidable obstacle.

In the interim, however, Wilson Fisk is still a big player even after he fell from grace politically. The photos of the set show that Kingpin’s story is not over yet, with Daredevil in the works. The production is still ongoing, and a handful of key characters are coming back.

Season 3 is becoming one of the most anticipated Disney+ Marvel projects. And for many fans, Elektra’s return could be the most evident indicator yet that the Defenders era is back.
