‘Deadpool And Wolverine’ Script Reveals The R-Rated Mickey Mouse Joke Disney Didn’t Want In The Film

Earlier this year, Ryan Reynolds revealed that Disney had politely asked him to remove one specific joke from ‘Deadpool and Wolverine‘, and now, fans finally know what it was. Disney and Marvel Studios gave Shawn Levy and Reynolds an extraordinary amount of freedom.

Despite Disney’s majority of content being kid-friendly they gave them the freedom to include their signature R-rated humor in the film. However, even with that latitude, one particular gag stood out as going a step too far.

The Joke That Crossed The Line In ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’

Previously, Ryan Reynolds shared that he had received a note from Disney about a joke in the script. However, the request wasn’t as strict as fans might expect. “There was a note about this one line. I was asked to take the line out. I wasn’t even mandated to take it out. To quote someone in a very high position of leadership at Disney: If you take it out, I’d love it. If you don’t, I’ll still love and support you,” Reynolds explained during an interview.

Initially, Reynolds was hesitant to remove the line. He confessed that he didn’t want to take the joke out for pride-related reasons. However, he was scared about the consequences. “Am I going to die on a hill over one joke?’ And, of course, my first instinct was, ‘Yes, I absolutely am,” he stated.

Director Shawn Levy chimed in during the discussion, teasing Reynolds’ stubbornness. “It took weeks for the ground to soften. My buddy Ryan is one stubborn son of a bitch.” Ultimately, after much deliberation, Reynolds decided to replace the joke. Moreover, in its place, the team inserted a joke about Pinocchio.

I got Pinocchio jammed in my ass, and he’s lying like crazy.” Reynolds was satisfied with the swap, acknowledging. But now, the original joke has been unearthed, thanks to leaked script pages. It read: “F*CK! What, we can’t even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse c*ck in my throat.

It’s undeniably outrageous, and exactly what fans expect from Deadpool. While the line isn’t the most offensive thing to grace a comic-book movie, it’s clear why Disney wanted to sidestep potential controversy.

Marvel’s Plans For ‘Deadpool 4’

While fans are still buzzing over ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’, rumors have started swirling about the future of this dynamic duo. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios has expressed a strong desire to produce another R-rated sequel featuring Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine.

Moreover, the original film was a massive success, earning over $1.3 billion at the global box office. Its streaming debut broke records on Disney+. So, given the pair’s undeniable chemistry and fan appeal, it’s no surprise Marvel is keen to keep them around for future projects.

Now, the current rumor suggests that a second Deadpool and Wolverine outing could serve as ‘Deadpool 4’. This would provide Jackman with another opportunity to showcase his iconic Wolverine. Additionally, it would further extend his tenure beyond ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.
