Marvel fans expected plenty of surprises at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. But guess what? One guest apperance stole the spotlight without even taking the stage right away. Dressed in full costume, Ryan Reynolds found a creative way to remind everyone why his Deadpool still one of the MCU’s biggest crowd-pleasers.
The surprise appearance came just days after the actor hinted that another superhero adventure could already be in the works. Here’s what comes next for the Merc with a Mouth.
Ryan Reynolds Crashed Marvel’s Comic-Con Panel As Deadpool
On July 25, Marvel Studios came back to Hall H at San Deigo Comic-Con, announcing three big projects. These included ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ a new Ghost Rider film, and ‘Black Panther III.’ The event also featured Marvel CEO Kevin Feige alongside Joe and Anthony Russo.

Besides the director duo and the huge cast of the new Avengers movie, fans also saw the funniest laugh. Ryan Reynolds suddenly appeared from the audience dressed as Deadpool in his grey outfit from the X-Force comics, something that has not appeared in the movies yet.
Remaining fully in the character, the antihero interrupted the panel and had a hilarious exchange with Paul Rudd before turning his attention to the upcoming film. “This seems like an awfully expensive way to announce a film. When do you start filming?” he asked.
Robert Downey Jr., who is returning to MCU as Doctor Doom after years of playing Iron-Man, reciproctaed the fun energy. “It’s in the can, bro. Look around you. Did you bump your head?” he replied. Realizing the joke had backfired, Deadpool again tried to check if there is a possibility to participate.
“I see. So there’s no additional photography, no overages, hot costs—maybe last minute additions?” he asked. However, the Merc with a Mouth eventually yeilded, saying, “No further questions. Happy Hogan, fetch the Audi. We’re leaving.”
He dropped the mic and calmly left Hall H, getting a huge applause from the audience. Meanwhile, after the event, Reynolds posted a behind-the-scenes video on X.
Reynolds Says Another ‘Deadpool’ Movie Is In Development
The video in focus showed Ryan Reynolds walking through the halls of San Diego Convention Center in costume, blending among fans before his surprise appearance. “The fans got Deadpool off the ground so many years ago,” he captioned the post.

“Yesterday, 10 years after the first film and exactly 2 years after Deadpool & Wolverine, I felt so lucky to be on the #SDCC floor with everyone whose unapologetic devotion brings so much joy to this world.” Moreover, the clip featured Downey Jr. noticing him at the stage.
“Who’s this guy with the swords and stuff?” the actor asked to which Reynolds replies in classic Deadpool manner, “Long-time listener, first-time caller.” Meanwhile, this fun apperance comes just days after the actor’s major announcement at New York Fantastic Fest.
At the event, Reynolds teased his fans about the next adventure of the Merc with a Mouth. “There’s a few really deep cuts that I think are missing behind the movies. I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics,” he said.
“There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, remotely another Deadpool film. It’s going to be great.” Considering that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ (2024) gathered over $1.3 billion and helped the franchise to pass $2 billion mark globally, it is easy to understand that Marvel doesn’t plan to retire our favorite superhero.
