Here’s Why The Symbiote God Knull Can Become The Greatest Villain In MCU History

The symbiote saga is a beloved segment of the MCU, with fans now excited about its next chapter. The ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ trailer confirming Knull’s debut was monumental news for the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU).  

Previously, rumors suggested that the villains used in the SSU were off-limits to the MCU. However, it might not be the case after all. Moreover, It raises an intriguing question: does the symbiote god belong in Sony’s corner of Marvel, or is the MCU a better fit? Nevertheless, Knull remains one of the most powerful villains of Marvel, and would most likely dominate the screens as an antagonist. In Marvel Comics’ King in Black event, it wasn’t just Eddie Brock who stood up to the dark god. It took a team-up of the Avengers, the SSU, X-Men, and even cosmic entities like the Silver Surfer to beat Knull. So, Tom Hardy’s Venom, while loved by fans, is simply not powerful enough to take on the symbiote god by himself.

If ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ has Eddie Brock single-handedly defeating a god who once slayed Celestials, it will diminish Knull’s threat. Moreover, bringing Knull into the MCU would allow for a proper assembly of forces. It could be Avengers: Endgame’ all over again. It’s safe to say that he is a villain worthy of an all-hands-on-deck scenario.

One of the most fascinating MCU Easter eggs was in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ when Nowhere was introduced, a mining colony inside the severed head of a Celestial. What fans may not realize is that this decapitated titan was slain by Knull.

Knull was wielding the All-Black, the first symbiote when the events took place. With this, the MCU has only scratched the surface of Celestial lore with ‘Eternals’ and the ongoing cosmic plotlines. So, Knull could be the perfect villain to dive deeper into these ancient beings. 

Knull’s Connection To Thor And Gorr The God Butcher Could Create A Whole New Arc

Knull isn’t just the god of the symbiotes, he’s also connected to the history of Thor and Gorr the God Butcher. Knull is the creator of All-Black, the weapon Gorr used to wage war against the gods in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. While Christian Bale’s Gorr may have met his end in the film, the seeds of Knull’s story have already been planted.

Morever, introducing Knull as the true master of All-Black elevates Gorr’s motivations. In addition, they also position Knull as a cosmic entity of unfathomable threat. Imagine Thor, realizing that the weapon and the darkness behind it have far greater consequences than he ever imagined. 

Knull Could Be The SSU’s Thanos

When we think of ultimate MCU villains, Thanos is the immediate name that comes to mind. However, Knull could be an even bigger threat than the Mad Titan. Moreover, while Thanos sought to restore balance through destruction, the symbiote god embodies pure darkness and chaos.

He isn’t motivated by philosophical ideals, he simply wants to return the universe to the void that existed before creation itself. In addition to his sinister motives, he holds the power to actually achieve them without needing any stones. Venom Could Become A True Hero

Venom’s association with the MCU is still murky, especially after ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’. However, Knull’s arrival could cement Eddie Brock’s role as a bona fide hero within the MCU. In the comics, Knull’s reign of terror forced Venom to not only embrace his heroic side but also earn him the trust of the Avengers.

Finally, the MCU needs a new major villain after Kang and the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga. Knull represents the perfect pivot. With the MCU exploring the Multiverse through Loki and Doctor Strange, the next logical step would be to tackle the cosmic void: the very thing Knull embodies.

Knull’s arrival would signal a massive tonal shift for the MCU. Moreover, Spider-Man’s deep ties to Venom and the symbiotes make him the perfect character to go up against Knull.
