Marvel comics and manga series crossover stories are rare but always exciting for fans when they happen. One such unexpected crossover took place a few years ago between Deadpool and My Hero Academia’s legendary hero All Might. While Marvel is well known for team-ups and interactions between its characters, a meeting between Deadpool and All Might would seem almost too bizarre.

An Unconventional Deadpool Team-Up
In 2019, Marvel decided to collaborate with Shonen Jump+ to produce seven one-shot manga stories illustrated by different artists. Each featured Marvel characters translated into the manga style.
One of these was ‘Deadpool: Samurai‘, which saw Deadpool travel to Japan and join a team called the Samurai Squad, similar to the Avengers. In chapter 9, the merc and the squad find themselves facing off against the powerful villain Thanos. It is here that an unexpected hero arrives to turn the tides in their favor.
As Deadpool and the Samurai Squad struggle against Thanos, one of Japan’s greatest heroes comes flying in to assist. It was none other than All Might in his muscular hero form. All Might boldly declares he will be the one to defeat Thanos. In a dramatic page, All Might then unleashes his iconic “United States of Smash” move on Thanos, cleanly knocking out the Mad Titan with a single punch.

Fan Reception Of The Team-Up
‘Deadpool: Samurai‘ is still a favorite among manga and Marvel fans alike. The wild mash-up of the character in a Japanese setting, coupled with the epic team-up with All Might, has ensured it remains one of the most popular collaborative stories. Both Deadpool and My Hero Academia’s massive global fanbases have discovered each other thanks to this story.
It has introduced more fans to the other’s beloved characters and universes. The unexpected nature of the Deadpool and All Might meeting is exactly what makes it so enjoyable and entertaining for readers even half a decade kater. Their crossover may not be very common, but its impact will long remain.
