The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) seems to be ever expanding with no sign of stopping. There have been reports lately of many big stars joining the league from Taron Egerton as Wolverine, to Ryan Gosling as Nova.
If reports are to be believed, another name has been added to the list. He is none other than the Academy Award winner Javier Bardem who will play the role of a villain in the upcoming MCU film.

Javier Bardem To Join The MCU As A Villain?
According to a report from Epic Stream, the award-winning actor Javier Bardem has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be playing the role of an antagonist. It is still not clear which villain the Spanish actor will play.
If we try to guess, there are a lot of villains from Marvel Comics that have not been seen on the big screen like ‘X-Men‘s Mister Sinister and ‘Fantastic Four‘s Doctor Doom.
The report suggests that Mister Sinister remains the top choice for the ‘Dune’ actor. The character is a supervillain from the X-Men universe who hasn’t appeared in any film yet. Disney recently bought the X-Men’s rights and Marvel Studios has plans to include the mutants in the MCU. It will be exciting to see Bardem as the villain.
Mister Sinister, who is the right hand of Apocalyse, possesses a range of abilities like superhuman strength, reflexes, telepathy, mental paralysis, mind control, teleportation, and immortality.
But there are chances of Bardem portraying Doctor Doom since a Fantastic Four reboot has been officially green-lit by Marvel Studios for their phase 4. The actor has previously portrayed villains in films like ‘No Country For Old Men’ and ‘Skyfall.’
Marvel Changes Ms. Marvel’s Inhuman Origin To Mutant
Talking about Mutants in the MCU, recently the final episode of Disney+ ‘Ms. Marvel‘ irked a lot of fans by deviating from the comics. It showed that Kamala Khan, the lead superhero of the show, is a mutant. Unlike the comics, where she has Inhuman origins. The show got the rest of the things right about Kamala, like her Pakistani origin, and Muslim faith.
The theme of the mutants will be further explored in ‘The Marvels’, a sequel to Captain Marvel. This is seen as a move from the MCU to introduce the ‘X-Men’ universe since Disney has bought that franchise.
But the future of the MCU seems bleak as fans didn’t react very well to the change and it might affect a lot of storylines in the near future.
