Joe Locke, the actor behind Billy Maximoff/Wiccan in ‘Agatha All Along’, has expressed interest in exploring his character’s potential within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a recent interview, Locke shared his hopes for Billy’s future.
He revealed his ambitious plans for Billy’s future in the MCU stating that he wanted to partner with Doctor Strange. Additionally, he also opened up about the pressure of keeping huge MCU secrets.
Joe Locke Believes Billy Maximoff Would Learn A Lot From Doctor Strange
Just like any other MCU sorcerer, Locke wants Billy to follow in Doctor Strange’s footsteps. “I think Billy would learn a lot from Doctor Strange or someone,” Locke said. “He’s such a young magic person who knows what they’re doing. Obviously, in the comics, they have a connection. So I think that would be cool, but who knows?” he added.

In the comics, Billy Kaplan, the reincarnated version of Wanda Maximoff’s son, has a significant connection to Doctor Strange. The Sorcerer Supreme has even mentored Billy, recognizing his immense magical potential. A similar dynamic could be explored in the MCU.
Besides Agatha (or her ghost now) Doctor Strange could guide Billy as he learns to control his powers and navigate the complexities of the multiverse. Moreover, the rich history of their comic book counterparts suggests that this could be a thrilling possibility for the future of the MCU.
Joe Locke On The Twist Behind The Witches’ Road
Joe Locke talked about the grueling process of keeping such huge MCU secrets. In addition to the shocking twist of his character being Billy Maximoff, in the final episodes he was revealed to be the creator of the Witches’ Road.

“Us making the show, it was so, like, the subconscious, ‘Is Billy actually scared at this point? Does he subconsciously know he’s going to survive because he is making the road and therefore making it all happen?’” Locke shared.
Just like his mother Wanda, Billy had created the road with chaos magic. Locke also shed light on the complex dynamics between his character and Agatha Harkness. One particularly intense scene involved Agatha’s betrayal of Billy. “That scene was such a complicated one for me,” Locke explained.
“I think it actually changed in post, I’m pretty sure because the ‘Is this how Nikki died?’ the telepathic line to Agatha, was a thing we added in post,” he added. Locke’s initial understanding of the scene was that Agatha’s decision to turn Billy over to Rio was a purely self-serving one, driven by her own survival instincts.
However, the addition of telepathic communication added a layer of complexity to the relationship between the two characters. “I think that she would have, but I think you need to tell the audience that story,” Locke said, referring to Agatha’s willingness to sacrifice herself for Billy. “You see more layers to her. You see why she does things, but she’s still a villain.”
