Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has set high expectations for ‘Thunderbolts*’. Slated to premiere in May 2025, the film will bring together a star-studded ensemble led by Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, and David Harbour as Red Guardian.
These beloved characters form an antihero group tasked with completing covert missions for the U.S. government. Moreover, while the plot alone was intriguing enough, Feige’s excitement about the film only adds to the anticipation.
Kevin Feige Compares ‘Thunderbolts*’ To The Avengers And The Guardians Of The Galaxy
Kevin Feige, while talking at the Disney APAC Content Showcase (via Deadline) shared his excitement for the team of anti-heroes. He claimed that the film was “what Marvel is all about”.
“It’s taking characters from all different types of places and franchises and putting them together,” Feige further explained. “That’s what the Avengers is, that’s what Guardians of the Galaxy is.”

The upcoming movie exemplifies the interconnected storytelling that has become a hallmark of the MCU. Marvel is known for its superhero teams and their missions to save the world. Now, ‘Thunderbolts*’ will provide a different take on the genre. ‘Thunderbolts*’ ever since it was announced, has been constantly compared to DCU’s ‘Suicide Squad’.
Moreover, the comparison isn’t far-fetched at all as both teams follow a team of antiheroes put together for a mission. While Thunderbolts boasts a team dynamic similar to the Avengers or Guardians, its members are far from polished superheroes. Instead, they’re complex individuals trying to navigate their roles in a world that doesn’t always see them as heroes.
David Harbour Confirmed Lewis Pullman’s ‘Bob’ Was Sentry
‘Thunderbolts*’ also has a lot of mystery surrounding Lewis Pullman’s character who is referred to as ‘Bob’ in promotional material. However, fans recently got a significant reveal. During an interview at D23 Brazil (via ComicBookMovie), David Harbour spilled some intriguing details about Pullman’s character.

He confirmed that ‘Bob’ is actually Sentry, a major figure from Marvel Comics. “Yeah, I don’t think he knows what to make of that,” Harbour teased about Red Guardian’s dynamic with Sentry. “I mean, again, we’ll have to see how it unfolds with all of that. I don’t think you guys know much about Bob/Sentry yet,” he added.
While he confirmed Bob being Sentry, he didn’t go much further into details as he didn’t want to “give too much away.” Moreover, Sentry, a complex and powerful character in the comics, promises to add an unpredictable element to the team. The character is known for his immense strength and inner demons. So, his inclusion could bring both tension and depth to the group dynamic.
