After an overwhelmingly successful trilogy with Jon Watts at the helm, the next chapter in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man story will see a changing of the guard in the director’s chair. Why Jon Watts Won’t Direct ‘Spider-Man’ 4?
Kevin Feige was speaking during an interview with CinemaBlend when he revealed that Jon Watts will not be directing the next installment of the ‘Spider-Man‘ franchise. However, he also stated that he is really impressed by Watts’ work on the previous three ‘Spider-Man‘ films.
“We love Jon. Jon did three of the best Spider-Man films ever for us,” Feige said, further noting that Watts currently has a busy schedule which would prevent him from directing the next installment of the superhero franchise. “He’s got lots of things going on now. So we’ll probably be looking for somebody else, just because he’s busy” Feige stated.
This confirmation from Feige sets the stage for a new director to take over the webslinger’s MCU adventures. With Watts’ departure now all but official, the search begins to find a suitable replacement.

Finding the right director to continue Spider-Man’s story will no doubt be a key priority for Marvel as they move towards development on ‘Spider-Man’ 4.
Speculation favors directors like Sam Raimi or Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, who can bring a fresh creative vision to the franchise. Feige clarified that he is looking for a director who can elevate the web-head’s MCU story while honoring Watts’ trilogy foundation.
